Dedicated Community Leader
James Murdock
James Murdock, a long-time resident of Moose Jaw, grew up in Central Butte and graduated from Central Butte High School in 1989. Inspired by his uncle, Rae Murdock, the owner of Westwood Funeral Chapel in Saskatoon, James pursued a career in funeral services, becoming a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan. In 2006, he founded Moose Jaw Funeral Home, where he provided compassionate care to families until selling the business in 2021, where it remains locally owned and operated.
James is a dedicated community leader who believes in turning words into action. A long-time resident of Moose Jaw, James has always prioritized family values. Alongside his wife of 24 years, Bev, he has been actively involved in the lives of his daughters, Sydney and Jenna, coaching them in sports like Timbits Soccer and Moose Jaw Minor Fastball.
James’ commitment to Moose Jaw is reflected in his extensive community involvement. He has served as past Chair and current board member of the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, Board Member for Providence Place Health Foundation, and co-founded River Street Promotions, a non-profit raising funds for youth mental wellness in Southern Saskatchewan. Through his business and volunteer work, James has consistently supported local causes and initiatives.
Now, driven by a passion for shaping Moose Jaw’s future, James is running for mayor to stimulate economic growth, attract and retain talent, and make Moose Jaw a thriving community for families and businesses.
